Eric's hand...

Dear Friends & Family,

This will probably be the last play-by-play report! Eric is not nearly so wordy!

This morning the hand doctor looked at Eric's right hand and determined there is a small piece of shrapnel in his 2nd knuckle that they may pick out and another spot just above and between his pinkie/ring knuckle. The 2nd one has a lump underneath on his palm that may be shrapnel and a little of his glove. They will do surgery on it early Thursday morning.

His surgeon is planning on discharging him to the Wounded Warrior facility near the hospital on Friday for up to 2 weeks. From there he will either stay here for added therapy, rejoin his unit or come home. His tooth repair will happen slowly, depending on what he chooses to do, and possibly at home.

He does pretty much everything by himself and is starting to do more all the time. He gets pretty tired and still needs pain meds, but it's improving steadily.

We are scheduled to leave at around 1:30pm tomorrow afternoon; I don't have the hard copy in my hand yet, but I believe that will happen. It was really good to see him and will be hard to leave him behind; but I also think this is where he needs to be to get well!

Thanks for all your prayers, Ü Carol
